Sun enters Capricorn

Whipping it all into shape.

Even despite all the insanity of Mercury Rx, Capricorn's power of efficiency can't be slowed, as in whipping all back into shape... As you might know, I like to tempt fate, but it does seem that I always have communication heavy activities when I am hitting the retrograde. Of course with X-mas underway, it's those holiday errands taking control--but this time around, X-mas miracles were all abound, and despite the obstacles, all wound up working out and I own this to the power of a Capricorn sun.

Example: My camera died on the first day of the retrograde, with no warning--as it was working smoothly the day before. I thought it was going to be hell getting it fixed, especially after going to the usual place with my warranty and told I had to send it back to the factory--which just sounded like the most impossible situation, as it was the holidays and Mercury Rx too...I saw a calender with months peeling away in my mind that went into 2012...but less than a week later, it came back all ready to go and despite what I read all over the Internet, I wasn't even charged for it! X-mas miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, as for the places in your life that you will experience a lift in efficiency:
Aries: Your sense of authority
Taurus: Higher learning, could be spiritual or even educational
Gemini: Power and revenge if you want it
Cancer: Commitments and knowing where your loyalties lie
Leo: Being helpful to those around you
Virgo: Wielding the power of the spotlight
Libra: Dealing with family
Scorpio: Expressing yourself
Sagittarius: Feeling calm
Capricorn: Trying new things
Aquarius: Leaving sentiment behind
Pisces: New bonds either with new or old friends

Mercury goes retrograde in Capricorn

Recheck your sanity.

Mercury retrograde has arrived as of 7:04 AM EST. That means the monkey wrench had been officially thrown into the communication works and you can expect snafus in all things that deal with talking, walking and breathing. You know it, nothing comes easy when the planet closest to the earth decides to go on a lunch break and leaves every one hanging to sort out its mess, like a bitter secretary...  You can try to fight it, or you can take its cue and realize nothing has to be so urgent or so black and white. In Capricorn, the sign of building, it's about slow progress anyway, so at the least, this retrograde will verify or decimate your hunches.

As for me, for sure, it's making me a believer all over again. As my friend has told me, "You know Kiki, I don't believe in all that stuff you do, but Mercury in retrograde, I totally believe in that."

You know it, despite the calamity, the universe is acting in a way I can get again, as in aspects/transits and planets acting the way they should. For me personally, the Mercury retrograde is in my 9th house, ruling international relationships and lo-and-behold, just prior to the official RX, which is when it starts to gurgle, I heard from a few friends I haven't heard from in a while and all of them overseas! My friend in Buenos Aries, a Nepali friend living in Japan and one of my BFFs from high school in Korea! What are the chances? So no matter what chaos I will be stepping into until December 29th (when this whole debacle will settle down), I get there is a method to this madness and that it ultimately means I am not nuts, astrology does happen! Yeaaaaaay!

Mars enters Capricorn

Keep your eye on the prize.

I couldn't find a full streaming version of 80s comedy, Ruthless People, but found this smushed version of it instead--which works. After all, it's Mars in Capricorn, who has time to waste on being entertained? You get what you need and you move on. Think ruthless, people!

Uranus goes direct in Pisces

Come up with new ways of to give a shit.

This weekend I had my first shift as a volunteer for this amazing organization, called Right Rides. They are free service for women, LGBTQ and gender queer individuals, offering safe, late night rides home on Friday and Saturday nights from 11:59 PM - 3 AM, (early Saturday or Sunday morning) in up to 45 NYC neighborhoods across four NYC boroughs. Vehicles are sponsored by zip-car and to get a ride, all you have to do is call (888) 215-SAFE (7233) and voila!

Although I had signed up to be a driver, I didn't get my paperwork in on time, so instead I was the navigator...The deal for volunteers is you're paired up, driver and navigator, and then throughout the night you get texts from a dispatcher and then drive about to pick up people and drop them off. I've always had this fantasy of being a cab driver, romanticizing the strange encounters that can occur, as in people and places, so I thought this is a way to accomplish my Jim Jarmusch dream, while being of some use...The thing that wierded me out is that this service is soo amazing, I am surprised their phones weren't ringing off the hook!!!

Seriously, we got two calls in two hours!!! That was only three drop-offs, which meant a lot of wasted time and fuel just driving around. No matter, it was interesting nonetheless...So yeah, if you live in NYC, save this # (888) 215-SAFE (7233) if you fall into any of the categories aforementioned, because this is a service for you! Save it, use it and pass it around! Maybe one night if we're lucky, you'll have me as your driver and I'll tell you your fortune! ...something is going to happen...

[If you aren't in NYC, don't fret. Right Rides may be coming to your city too. Contact Right Rides to find out how you can help make it happen faster.]

Sun in Sagittarius (Day 3)

Keeping hope alive.

OH MY F-ING GOD! ...I am not one that is a tooter of my own horn, but dang, even I can't believe the turn around!!! Every day since the sun entered Sagittarius, something exiting, like really exciting has happened...Today, began my day at the crack of dawn to gussy myself up before heading to 30 Rock...saw the sunrise for the first time in my new apartment, since I moved here in March, or so it felt...Shot the segment and it went totally smooth and soo swimmingly (despite having to do my own make-up) that I got invited back already!

Part of my day in pictures:

...Then got home a little later than the time I typically begin my day, crazy! And that also included lunch, shopping, taking in a few X-mas window displays and a long chat with a friend on the phone, while watching the X-mas tree get set up...Later, spontaneously met with FLC (Sagittarius) for coffee and holiday booze shopping and yeaaah, got more presents! Love it!!!...Then came home and got an email from a super exciting contact from overseas!!!!! Broadcasting, spontaneity, a Sagittarius friend, surprise presents, a foreign correspondence...all Sagittarius themes! OMG, I am so aligned with the universe again, I can't even take it! WHEW F-ING WHEW IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!!

...and how random, but what is up with the developing moose theme in my life?

Sun in Sagittarius (Day 2)

More sweet surprises!

Woke up to the cutest email from my little twin star Lala (Scorpio), who moved to the Land of Smiles (AKA Thailand) too long ago to teach English and never came back(WAH!)... He sent me this funny video of his students singing "Happy Birthday." Adorable! He's not in it, but he's the one that cheers at the end. Too cute!

(...and so you know, my b-day isn't actually today, it was a little while ago, back in Scorpio...but as life goes on, I am not so into making a big parade of it, but rather spending a day doing something fun and memorable...but I do love and appreciate that I have friends that remember, even if I don't mention it--like Lala, who also surprised me one year when he was living in Seattle by sending me a jumbo mystery box of trinkets from Archie McPhee! ...This year I started my day with a surprise b-day burrito with pink candles at the stroke of midnight, then later made a pilgrimage to see a life-size moose made of chocolate!!! Amazing!)

...And in more ME news, and I am not talking about Maine, learned my fave DJ is coming to town -- DJ JT SUPERSTAR!

Sun enters Sagittarius

Let the sunshine in!

I love Sagittarius! It's the sign of truth, spontaneity, adventure, optimism and catharsis, to name a few of its lovely traits....and like all that it represents, the kick off brought in a slew of surprises and turned life around in an instant for me and a few of my friends that have also had a trying year, which just makes me want to sing this song at the top of my lungs:

Yes, in homage to this hopefully continuing exciting time, life will do a full on reversal on the uncertain vibe that it gave away to most of this year, ending all the flakiness, and putting back the pieces of the puzzle to a picture I want to see....and how crazy is this, the list of good news that arrived all in one day:
  • Positive news that a pending financial disaster isn't likely to happen to me and another friend of mine...ending a two-week agony.
  • An invite to do a TV segment for NBC, from an lovely acquaintance from ages ago that happens to be a Sagittarius!
  • Also ran into my ex-neighbor that I adore at the grocery (a Gemini, complimentary sign of Sagittarius!), who I happen to have been thinking about for the last few weeks and wanting to contact!
  • My fab friend Judy (a double Aries), who is writing her second book, got a personal email from a celeb that wants to be in her book! (& freaky deeky, she got the news almost the exact time the sun when into Sag!)
  • My beloved FLC (a Sagittarius), got just that much closer to his dream job.
  • ...and although this happened a few days prior, with astrology, all aspects have at least a few days before and after that it can have an effect, which means these count too...my amazing friend Christine (Taurus) who was fighting to keep the school in her district open got news her school won't be closing and my totally inspiring friend Shlomi (Scorpio), who is an singer in the Young Artists Program of the Israel Opera, got to sing on the BIG stage. Yes, wowee zowee!
...as Oprah (Aquarius) said on her Favorite Things Part 2 show today, which so captures the spirit of Sagittarius, "It’s not about the stuff... It's about hope, and knowing that something magical and joyful can happen to you when you least expect it."

Full moon in Taurus

Celebrate your appetite for life.

Postscript 4:04pm 11/24/2010
I still feel bloated from yesterday, which started way earlier than usual to consume copious amounts of dim sum and then wash it down with a can of orange soda...to then shortly move onto a mochaccino, to then later ingest a bag of coconut M&Ms, a few mice shaped gummies and the majority of a big bag of caramel corn. After, had a side of rigatoni and a 2-meatball sandwich on a brioche, smothered in tomato sauce and cheese...continued later to inhale the rest of the caramel corn, with the  exception of a few kernels, which I left to not feel like a total pig, but when I woke up today, I ate them.

Venus goes direct in Libra

Everyone, back to falling in love!

Breathe a sign of relief if you were one of those people who couldn’t cut a break in love, money or even squeezing out good hair days as of late. Good news is there was a reason for that mayhem and it was a VENUS IN RETROGRADE — a trying period when all things dealing with love, beauty and pleasure go haywire and swing you from emotional extreme to emotional extreme, while also, at times, skewing your vanity. However, November 18th marked the day when the insanity officially ended, giving us just one more week of its aftershocks before fully subsiding its dastardly power, which took hold on October 8th in intense Scorpio (which then re-entered indecisive Libra on November 7th, where it will stay until November 29th, until it returns to Scorpio until January 7th, 2011 (an extra long SEXY stay!!!)).

Yes, now with Venus direct, going back in forward motion, this is the time to get back to falling in love, feeling beautiful and learning how to enjoy life, without white knuckles! …and while many of you might have heard of Mercury retrograde, where everything dealing with communication tends to break down, that happens mostly 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks. Venus retrograde happens once every 1.5 years, for approximately 6.5 weeks — and often hitting issues closer to home, as instead of mental aggravations, these are emotional ones. So, typically the lesson of each is always of letting go of something, as all retrogrades always deals with the past in some way and helping move one into the future with more clarity. As for the areas and lesson this Venus direct hits for each sign, as in re-learning appreciation and owning pleasures derived from certain areas in your life, here’s the short list (which really picks up speed by Nov. 29th-Jan. 7th):

Aries (March 21-April 19)- Sex and Control
Taurus (April 20- May 20)-
Commitments and Harmony
Gemini (May 21- June 20-
Traditions and Organization
Cancer (June 21-July 22)-
Romance and Worship
Leo (July 23- August 22)-
Family and Home
Virgo (August 23- September 22)-
Learning and Communicating
Libra (September 23- October 22)-
Love and Security
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)-
Personal fulfillment and Instincts
Sagittarius (November 22- December 21)-
Soul mates and Imagination
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Friendships and Innovation
Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
Power and Prestige
Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Truth and Adventure

Jupiter goes direct in Pisces

Oh, it's you again...About time!

See what an influence Jupiter has!
Ever since July 23, 2010, Jupiter has been going backwards and causing a breakdown in lucky streaks, expansion and the overall optimistic mood, at least in my opinion...but woohoo, today, it moves back in forward motion, helping bring about hope, imagination and compassion--as those are the things that Pisces represents. As for a refresher on all those places in your life that this will effect until January 22, 2011, click here to learn what it all means again: http://tinyurl.com/ydxufqc

Mercury enters Sagittarius

TMI

Being green is good and I appreciate that I have a low flush toilet, but it has an irritating side. Every time I poo, I have to clear its landing or I have to clean the toilet...Since the bowl is basically dry (and big), with only a small opening at the bottom with water, if I don't get my shit right into that hole, in its entirety, completely clearing the sides, it'll hit the wall and stick there and dry until I clean it...there have been cases it dried so hard, it almost had to be scrapped off and then those times I had to clean up after guests (dry heave)...but for the most part, at this point, I have good aim...and I eat a lot of fiber.

Oh and P.S. I hate the new blogger. It has weird kinks in typing, copying and pasting and uploading pictures...basically everything.

Venus retrogrades into Libra

Who cares what anyone else thinks?

I know, I know...There I was having one of those days at the gym, feeling like a zombie in retrograde smack down mode...giddiness is not the word I would use to describe my mood, as I was going through the motions on the elliptical, not even breaking a sweat and zoning out on the TV when this video popped up:

...and although my instinct would of normally made me turn the station ASAP, I was being possessed by a certain strain of poppiness I couldn't fight....and let me tell you, until that day I never consciously listened to any Taylor Swift song ever, assuming I'd have no tolerance, but then there I was, lured in by this video where she plays an awkward teen in love with her neighbor, writing notes to him from across the way, making me stay until the end when I let out my big, "Awwwwwwwwww."

Yes, warmness.

...What can I say, those are the kind of disgusting surprises that will occur during a retrograde...Now let me go puke from this admission...

New Moon in Scorpio

Deep transformations are in store. Act with determination, not desperation.

"...I'm a very GOOD man. I'm just a very bad wizard..."
With all things Scorpio comes intensity. So, even as a celebratory new moon is under way, prepare for a two week period that may bring shocking surprises that cause sudden changes, forcing you onto a new direction. While the ride may be scary, the true test of Scorpio is seeing how deep your reserves  are and how courageous you are willing to be. Yes, even in an exalted new moon, which is about new beginnings, Scorpio will bring it on with strings attached and where it might take  you,  you'll never know until the bottom goes out and has you suddenly released onto its journey of mayhem and/or magic....However, hints of where this abrupt rebirth might occur is as follows:

Aries (March 21-April 19): Your inner psychology
Taurus (April 20- May 20): Adversaries
Gemini (May 21- June 20):Health
Cancer (June 21-July 22): Creativity
Leo (July 23- August 22): Basic foundations
Virgo (August 23- September 22): Thought processes
Libra (September 23- October 22): Sense of worth
Scorpio (October 23-November 21): Identity
Sagittarius (November 22- December 21): Karma
Capricorn (December 22-January 19): Ideals
Aquarius (January 20-February 19): Your reputation
Pisces (February 20-March 20): Faith

Mercury in the first house

Like, OMG about M-O-I...

I love when I hear something I predicted came true. It freaks me out, as much as it excites me. Recently I was doing cards with my friend W. and told him someone from his past is going to help him connect to a big opportunity this week...At that time, he couldn't even fathom--no one he knew at any point seemed likely...and dunt dunt done, HE RAN INTO SOME HE KNEW THAT OFFERED HIM A BIG OPPORTUNITY THREE DAYS LATER!!!! Holy fucking shit!!!! I was soooo on it!!!!!! Crazy!!! ...wished it worked on myself...

Scorpio Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars Dominion

When the answers aren't obvious...

When I woke up today, the first thing I thought to do was read my tea leaves. This is not something I normally think to do, so it was totally random...but of course being who I am, I trust everything has a reason, so I accordingly did as I must...and so it went...

As for how to do it? You make a cup of tea with loose leaves and when you are almost done drinking it, with about 1/8 of an inch left of tea, you swirl your cup around and think of whatever you want to ask. I always like it to be more general, as it beats me what I should know most of the time...and you can swirl left or you can swirl right. Some tea readers have rules, I prefer to think it's all about your concentration...So anyway, after you are doing swirling (when ever you feel you are done), the tea leaves will settle at the bottom and sides of the cup in various formations...gently pour the rest of the tea out and then read away!

As for what I found in my cup, here are the results...
Please let me know what you see and what you predict from the images!

Sun enters Scorpio

The mystery begins...

Feel the glamorous vibe of Scorpio, the 8th sign of the zodiac and the ruler of sex, power, transformation and secrets...

From wikipedia:
Daughters of Darkness (1971, Belgian, in English, directed by Harry Kümel):
A recently married young couple, Stefan (John Karlen) and Valerie (Daniele Ouimet), are on their honeymoon. They check into a grand hotel on the Ostend seafront in Belgium, intending to catch the cross-channel ferry to England. It is off-season, so the couple are alone in the hotel. Alone, that is, until the sun sets and a mysterious Hungarian countess, Elizabeth Báthory (Delphine Seyrig) arrives in a vintage Bristol driven by her 'secretary' Ilona (Andrea Rau). The middle-aged concierge at the hotel swears that he saw the Countess at the same hotel when he was a little boy - but concludes he must be mistaken, since she doesn't look a day older than she did back then. The countess quickly becomes obsessed with the newlyweds, and the resulting interaction...

Full Moon in Aries, Blue Moon

Once in a lifetime...

Tonight's blue moon is the second full moon in Aries to happen in a month--an occurrence that typically happens on average about 37 times per century (the blue moon part, not the specific Aries part). This year even began with a blue moon on New Year's Eve, making this second new moon even more extraordinary. Plus, astrologically the first full moon within this month was at 0 degrees of Aries, while this one was at 29 degrees of Aries, which represents an entire cycle! So, with all this magic, it is imperative to hone this energy to sending out sweetness into the universe and opening yourself for new adventures. If you get a chance to, focus on the full moon at it's apex at 9:37 pm EST tonight and make your wish. If you miss it, no worries, stare at this picture of the moon at its peak and concentrate on your dreams at the same time, as it's the mediation that matters in helping the universe steer your to your destiny!

Mercury enters Scorpio

When saying less is more.

Scorpios can be total whack jobs when it comes to communicating. Whatever they feel is too personal tends to be highly subjective and particularly bizarre. One day they might throw skeletons from their closet left and right at you, the next they can get disproportionally upset if you ask them their shoe size. Which ever mood you might catch them in is also a toss up, as there is always some convoluted method of logic to their madness that goes deep into their past in some shape or form. With this sign, nothing is ever light!

...So, as this energy takes control of the communications planet, plan ahead as it might take you some extra time to read in-between the lines, as not much of anything will be too obvious for the next few weeks (until Nov. 18th to be exact)...My advice, to get yourself safely through it: say less to mean more, as it's all about maneuvering whomever or whatever you are playing to your advantage by having them make all the moves, good and bad, as ultimately, it all has to come out anyway and best to see what you have to work with before you lift a finger.

Venus goes retrograde in Scorpio

When your instincts are telling you to run, but all you want do is stay.

Venus retrograde in Scorpio has been scaring me for some time now. Since I knew it was coming and know what its all about (emotional deja-vu, exes returning, feelings change, anything that gives you pleasure can go wrong), I of course hyped myself more than I needed to and caused more of a meltdown than necessary.

I thought all sorts of crazy scenarios; going down too many romantic memory lanes that I'd have thought by now should of been such a bust that I'd know it would be a complete waste of time to even wonder, "What if?" ... Of course, shortly I started to feel misguided...as in second-guessing myself...but duh, I was just working myself up more than I had to, because when the day actually came, I felt nothing, but relief! I don't know what exactly I was expecting, but I was fearing some sort of emotional apocalypse...

Thankfully, because I did my purging early on, and so much of it, as soon as the day hit, I felt something I didn't expect: liberated and hopeful! Seems that dragging myself all over my sordid past made me so over it that I ironically was excited about the future, as in being surprised by romance again! Yes, a total shock, as this retrograde brought me back to that place devoid of the bitterness I picked up through the years and where I could see and feel a giddiness once again.

Yes, in short, this was a small miracle and taught me an important lesson: retrogrades aren't necessarily meant to be punishments, but renaissances! So, to make this Venus in retrograde period that lasts until November 18, 2010 worth your while, consider the following areas in your life and what you use to feel about it and where you are now, then work on bridging that gap back to when idealism still ruled...

Aries (March 21-April 19)- Sex

Taurus (April 20- May 20)- Commitments

Gemini (May 21- June 20- Traditions

Cancer (June 21-July 22)-
Romance

Leo (July 23- August 22)- Family

Virgo (August 23- September 22)-
Learning

Libra (September 23- October 22)-
Love

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)-
Personal fulfillment

Sagittarius (November 22- December 21)-
Soulmates

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Friendships

Aquarius (January 20-February 1
9) Power

Pisces (February
20-March 20) Truth

New Moon in Libra

Let the good times roll!

I love Libras, but the one thing I can say for them is that I have yet to meet one that can be on time to save them. No matter, their jovial attitudes and charming way with language doesn't make holding a grudge with them possible. After all, Libras tend to be just that popular and just that busy that sometimes it is hard to stay on track...and so when the sky is under this influence of Libra, you just have to go with it and forget any consequences, other than being in the moment...hence this super late post...You know it, once this day rolled around, life as I knew it was no longer quite the same, as the see-saw tilted the other way and there was no more time to get mopey, as there are just too many celebrations, conversations, flirtations and adventures to be had! If I even blinked an eye I would of missed another opp, so forget even slowing down now and keep it moving for the next two weeks under this celestial influence!

New moon in Libra theme song, turn it up and dance!

Mercury enters Libra

OM

Lately, my faith in astrology has been deflating and I've been wondering if I am actually a high functioning crazy person. While I do totally stick to believing in the personality traits, I am not feeling the predictive side to it these days...and it's not like I don't know how it works. I know it's not about getting things on a silver platter, it's about working within a system of timing and bringing about the best results. While it's not 100%, to an extent I would of have thought with all the efforts I have put out so far, there would be something that would give...but NO!

Sure, I get that life is not all about rainbows and unicorns, with everything happening in the happiest way at the precise moment, but I have never gone this long without something new and exciting happening in certain areas in my life...and dang, this year has been no walk in the park!!! ...too many teasers, as in opportunities that get busted at the most exhausting times...Even today, with this so-anticipated Venus and Mars alignment in Scorpio hitting my natal moon to almost the exact degree, it was so much more filled with lacklusterness than lust that I didn't even have the energy to gossip about it--and that is coming from a Gemini rising!

Anywhoo, it's not like I've given up, yet...So, despite what might or might not be happening, I still see the validity in astrology, at the least as a universal schedule of assignments to take to task in some way or another, even if it brings no lucky breaks...because at the least, it can provoke thought, right? ...Ha ha, this was soo spoke like someone with Mercury that just entered her 12th house, the house of the subconscious, blind faith and victimization...

...So, to make this post not just about me whining, here is a fab movie to bring on that Mercury in Libra mellow, cool and peaceful vibe: Baraka... Watch it in the bathtub with treats and dim lights, just like I did. It'll totally do the trick.

Happy sun aligns w/the planet of harshness, Saturn

Monsoon watch in effect.

I fight with my bitterness a lot. I hate it, but that’s the truth. The older you get, the more humbled you become and the less inspired you are. It sucks, but what can you do? The point is to keep fighting to want to still believe, want to still hope and want to stay curious…but of course, spending much time in one's head can mean too many hours of space to fill thinking about everything that is self-defeating… Luckily, I’m a Gemini rising, so that means having two heads in one and being my own movable party. It makes it easy to do double duty in playing roles too, as in side-stepping into being my own babysitter — as in the person who has to constantly come up with tasks to keep me busy, while I can go off and do other things…because, if I am not busy, I’m a psychological thriller ready to happen.

Full moon in Aries

New! New! New!

Today's full moon was at zero degrees and in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, which means big things astrologically speaking--as in a whole new cycle and new beginnings. Time to throw out the old and start with the new, while throwing caution to the wind, as it's about trusting your gut and being willing to take risks.

As for me, things are moving along quite swimmingly. However, I constantly have to remind myself not to get too far ahead of myself and create outcomes to situations before letting them turn what they may, because the downfall for me, as I learn over and over again, is that I tend to build things up to greatly disappoint or disregard opportunities instantly, as it has to wow me at the start or never at all. Either all, they all spell reckless behavior and while I may never be cured of this tendency, I might as well try...at the least, I can then say it sucked, right?

Anyway, if you are reading this, you are probably a lot like me, as in a reactionary type that goes in and out of thinking they know everything to some degree... If so, then make the following note to self, as in, "I promise to not be so quick to judge (even if I swear I am psychic) and give things a chance in the following areas, as not all surprises come in recognizable packages and until you know for sure, you know nothing," ...and with full/new moons usually only in full effect for two weeks, the good news is that if this new way of living doesn't work for you, then you can scrap it ASAP...but if it does, then woohoo for being in tune with this astrological happening!

Areas per sign in which to sample:
Aries (March 21-April 19): Celebrating your accomplishments with humility

Achieving balance means accepting that all good things can't last forever...

Goodbye summer, so sad to see you go... So to deal, I desperately held onto its tail ends by skipping out to the beach with my fab friends Dyami and FLC to squeeze out every last minute of summer left... and OMG, was it spectacular! Any day spent in a bikini with vegging as the only thing on the agenda is a dream!!!!! ...Au revoir mon amour, thanks for so many more memories to love...

Mars enters Scorpio

It's all or nothing right now!!!!

Mars, the planet of passion, has slipped into Scorpio, the sign of passion. Put these two forces together and you got one cataclysmic explosion of power and intensity that redefines the term obsession! Yes, with anything Scorpio, there are never any gray areas, as it's all about going all the way until you get what you want or bust.

So, as this cycle kicks off, which will last until October 27, 2010, realize that this is when you will know what truly matters to you, as this is the time when you will have to lay it all on the line to get what you must and refuse to settle for second best, because as it goes, this isn't a period for wimps!

Pluto goes direct in Capricorn

Rebooted and ready to go.

Pluto is the farthest "planet" from the sun and its slow to make a move. As the "planet" that represents transformation, it's a reminder that all good things do come to those who wait and work it slowly and methodically. Since it's in Capricorn, the sign of structure, this is time to resort our foundations, our beliefs and understanding to be able to withstand the long haul. So, as this distant influence plays its part in the scheme of things, this new forward motion means time to take all that you now know and put it to good use, as in setting up new groundwork that you can rely on.

As for how this affects each sign, here is the list of areas in your life that you should focus on shoring up:

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Status

Taurus (April 20- May 20)

Spontaneity

Gemini (May 21- June 20)

Power

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Mercury Goes Direct!

Ready, set, go!

Mercury retrograde not only means a stall to communications, but a stall in your brain. As it goes, even when it moves ahead, the planet is still sleepy and affected by its shadow, making its haze last about a week after. So, true to this cycle, it means slowly emerging from a brain dead period isn't uncommon. If you are suffering from this malfunction, to stimulate yourself back into full capacity a little faster, jolt yourself with a dose of color--as in wearing or just staring at your astrological power color to ignite the genius in you again!

THE COLOR CHART GOES AS...

Aries (March 21-April 19) Red
Taurus (April 20- May 20) Kelly Green
Gemini (May 21- June 20

Mercury Retrograde

Remembering the past.

Written September, 2001. First published @ SXSW Award Winner for Best Gurl website, www.planetkiki.com, in response to the terrorist attacks.

AMERICA’S WAKE UP CALL:
HIT THE SNOOZE OR GET OUT OF BED?

The first reports of looting have come in since the collapse of the Twin Towers in New York. As horrific as that seems, is as predictable as it can get. After all, a New Yorkers’ reputation is all about being a brooding bad-ass criminal that is really a loner at heart. It is part of the stereotype. So, why should this be so shocking? Life goes on they tell us — and so it has.

Of course, the report of looting, set in such a grim backdrop of carnage, is crass. However, it magnifies the questions we must respond to. It is not just asking ourselves about life going on — that is a given. The question we must ask ourselves now is, how do we want life to go on? What is the quality and level of respect we want to live among? Are we capable of really learning from our past? As this country comes back to a semblance of normalcy, what will it bring? Will it only take a few more days, or weeks, for this fabrication of unity to begin to crack? Do we let our apathy come back with the TV stations’ scheduling, or is this redemption going to revolutionize our minds?

As we all have seen in the last few days, love has out poured throughout much of the world. Throughout the streets of New York — a city famed for its cutthroat environment — strangers are hugging one another; people of all colors are praying together; volunteers and donated supplies are superfluous. Around this nation, the same spirit of unity has driven people to sit on the sides of random highways, waving to strangers in their cars and of little children selling their toy collections to help others in need. It has been an awe-striking phenomenon that has been infectious throughout the nation. No matter what economical class, political allegiance, religious clique, etc. that one belongs, lines that divide have gone asunder. The masses have found a connection through grief. We’ve been given a reminder that we are one nation — however dysfunctional — but like most dysfunctional family, when the madness strikes, we stick through the thick together.

Yes, despite these random reports of obscene selfishness coming in, we should not feel the need to be diverted by the jadedness, allowing it to infest our minds. We need to react, remembering all the kindness and love that has been brought to the surface, and seal those bitter cracks. The statistics are in; ignorance is the minority. There are more of us, than there is of it, and let that serve as our common bond. Let’s not make this sense of togetherness a temporary reaction, but a rediscovered instinct. The alarm clock has gone off, and accepting that and treating everyone as an enemy, if you can’t get your way, is no longer acceptable. It is time to go deeper into your thoughts and emotions, and think about real priorities of what life is about; understand it isn’t always about you. Life includes every single living being in this world. It is about everyone caring, respecting, sharing, having patience, etc., for one and all. These are the pillars of a peaceful society.

We all share this life together, and these events have given us the taste of how powerful it can be to live in a positive alliance. September 11, 2001 marked a day when a renaissance of humanity was woken. We have witnessed the effects of ignorance at its most unimaginably depraved level, and have proved we won’t allow it. Know now that the way we were living before, in all the apathy and arrogant bitterness, was wrong and unnecessarily counterproductive. Know now that it is horrific to be brought together at this price — a price that should forever serve as our reference point for the mistakes we all committed before. Know now we should no longer take for granted the choices and the quality found in how we choose to exist, and how giving we all can be. Know now we must destroy the arrogance and ignorance we allow to exist because of indifference. Know now we need to refuse to be engulfed in, and act out, the frustrated anger we all can get caught in because of our egos. Know now we need to continue to embrace what we each can do, to truly achieve peace, love and happiness — and all the slogans of positivity. Understanding we are all together is taking the first step; living with it, appreciating it and embracing it, is the next. Know now that we should no longer think an eye for an eye, and call it a day. In these days, we have seen too much, suffered too much and proven too much strength to want to revert.

So, as this tragedy’s day will move farther down the time line of our history, what will our personal actions be? With massive, and useless carnage occurring throughout many generations of our existence — what can we gain from our generations’ calling? We have learned so far, history has had two effects — it teaches or it taints; leaving us at the daunting decision to let this moment be a defining one, or just another tear-jerking twist in the human archives. It is each our personal responsibility to either uphold the knowledge we have been given and retain this appreciation for life as part of our daily existence or not. Which will you choose?
