Mercury Enters Gemini

I Just Can't Stop Looking....

Gemini may be where Mercury belongs, but it doesn't make it right. In fact, by nature of the planet and the sign, it'll mean submerging into chaos and curiosities, willingly and accidentally, with the quest for information obsessing you, as you dart ahead in non-sequiturs.

Yes, Mercury in Gemini will amp up your mind with a million new curiosities, all at once: big and small, tall and short, merry and morbid, etc... etc...

...and trying to avert your eyes from train wrecks will be impossible, as you can't help, but want it all, no matter how dirty it gets or how devious you have to be to get. So, get ready, set and go, as they'll be no exploration that won't have it's rewards now.

....and on a side note. Mercury in Gemini also hits during the initial warmer weather of the year, as least in the Northern Hemisphere -- and in NYC that means roadkill time, as all the critters great and small come out to prance about. So, the first roadkill I see in a year is like the gunshot at the start of a race, counting down to summer...This time around though, I happen to be in Florida, where I got treated to a more exotic site, Exhibit A....but not to be outdone as soon I returned to NYC (Exhibit B), on my 1st bike outing right around the corner.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

No, not a necessary addition, but just couldn't stop myself. The armadillos is like nothing I've ever seen or smelled....Although, I have caught the scent of sea lion carcass...Merry Mercury In Gemini!

Sun in Aries

The Spring Equinox!

The weather has been AMAZING in NYC!!!!! That groundhog was no liar when he saw his shadow and predicted a early spring, because already in the last few weeks of winter the weather has spiked to glorious temperatures! Yes, days of hiked hemlines, outdoor ice coffees and the surest sign of the season in the city, lots-o-roadkill. After all, when the sun is out to stay, the rats are out to play.

Sun in Cancer/Summer Solstice

When the cat's away....

...It's all fun and games, until someone gets run over and their head skinned...

...Roadkill mania marking the first day of NYC summer, hoorah summer 2011! ...Hope this isn't an omen of things to come...

Moon In Scorpio

From deep inside your body will churn.

I use to think rat road kill was the most disgusting of all the urban decay, never stopping to snap the many dead pigeons I’ve seen — as they never looked so detrimental or so shockingly gruesome that I had to shoot it…at the least, they get to fly, not like rats who never know freedom beyond the want of survival…. but today, today I changed my mind…

Those INTESTINES! THAT EYE! THAT EYE IN THE BEAK!!!! It’s just TOO horrid for words. It’s SO INTENSE; it’s impossible not to feel as if you can smell the repulsion from just looking.(Click on pic for the complete vomit-inducing effect.)

...and speaking of intensity, and Scorpionic insanities, today my obsession with The Real Housewives of New Jersey took control and I had to trek my ass over to see the mess that is Danielle, who was doing a Q&A/book signing for her new memoir, The Naked Truth. Through traffic I rode my bike from way east downtown, through the midtown rush hour and on over to the upper west side, making it just in time to catch her in all her glory: the spray-tanned skin, the tight black dress, the perfectly manicured nails, the blown out hair, the utterly botoxed face and of course, nipples sticking right out to say, "Hello!" It just makes me love her even more.

...and of the most memorable moments of this otherwise fairly anti-climatic event: the insane fan in the front row that kept raising his hand to give his almost tearful monologues about how she is his inspiration, how fabulous he thinks she is, how she is such a great mom, etc. etc., etc, and how could I not love how she repeated several times throughout the Q&A in a completely solemn tone that she was, "not a victim, but a victor." Pure inspiration!

Mercury enters Sagittarius

Eye-opening mental stimulation is unavoidable.

4:09 p.m.
It’s baaaack. Just one day of warm weather and the rats are out to play. Too bad they suck at playing in traffic in my part of town…but thank god for zoom lenses, because taking these pics gave me the worst heeby geebies ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could barely inch my way over it, holding my breath and having tingly sensations running up and down my spine all the while. All I wanted to do was run, but argh, I needed these shots!!!! So sad I am more scared of it than it is of me even more when its dead — but in this case, this is way more than just dead, it's mutilated and shocking! It totally woke me up, like a shot of adrenalin after just one glimpse — and from several feet away. Damn, if they could only make coffee this strong...Maybe this is a new item I can suggest that Starbuck's can offer, images of disgustingly ravaged carcasses. Best of all: caffeine-free, fat-free and even calorie-free or minus calories in some delicate cases. Their bulimic customers will love it….just too many tangents to go off on today...Oh, and for total upchucking revulsion, click on the pic.

Moon in the 8th

Twisted fascinations.

I can't get enough of taking pictures of things I am utterly repulsed by. It's a compulsion, and thanks to living in my lovely part of town where there is something repellent that happens every day, I am never at a loss... Rushing on my way to make a train to the beach, after over sleeping and missing two ferries, off with no time to spare, this made me stop and back-up:

The most revolting thing about it, besides that tail, the one intact ear and that expression that seems to be on its face is that I can't even make sense of it: how the tail is by the head and the feet are facing each other. Did it get snapped in half? How? Was it really that gargantuan in size? Is there more than one? ...The grotesqueness is too big to bear.

P.S. By the time I got back almost 11 hours later, it was completely gone--and not because someone cleaned it up, but because there was just that much traffic. (Click on photo for total revulsion.)

Pluto and the moon in the eighth: the house of death, mystery and transformation

Morbid curiosities.

As a Scorpio, I can't help myself from being intrigued and repulsed by roadkill. Lucky me, in my neck of the woods, there seems to be a high number of animal causalities during the warmer months. This one was particularly disturbing, since in fresh squished form, it looked like it was a pleasantly cute creature. The next day, not so much.

(Update: by day three, all evidence was gone.)
