Mercury Retrograde into Libra

Oh yeah?!
Yeah!

Mercury is now back into peace, love and happiness Libra, making it more evident what is not copacetic. Seems the brains of those not at peace will be tossing and turning more, until they have made peace with something in their lives that needs rectification. So, whatever loose ends are hanging about in your life, time to make the cuts or tie it back up in an official sort of way.

Yes, this is a time of making amends and redrawing agreements to suit the needs of everyone involved, not just yourself. A lot of formality will be needed, but as long as you show respect, this is a time that won't be too miserable. After all, Libra is ruled by Venus, so endings will likely be fair... Of course, when Mercury zooms back into Scorpio, it might mean being punched back down, but if you do find that to be true, then take it as a karmic shot for having to relearn your rights and do onto others as you want them to do onto you.

Note: October 25 is the day Mercury will go direct.
November 8 is the day it reenters Scorpio.

Venus Enters Libra

Get Away with Murder

Roll out the red carpet because the mistress of the penthouse is back. Yes, Venus is home in Libra, one of her two territories. In la-la-Libra land, it's about grace, elegance, culture and harmony. Looks matter, etiquette applies and showing off your co-dependent side will win you an upper hand.

Think the justice and feel the prettiness, as this is the time to get away with murder with only 7 simple rules:
  1. Look the part = Be the part. (Dress up, crash ritzier parties & load up.)
  2. Create something; call it art.
  3. Flattery will get you everywhere.
  4. Symmetry is everything.
  5. Beauty is power.
  6. Buy now, pay later.
  7. Always say, "Please," and, "Thank you."

Sun Enters Libra: The Autumn Equinox

Turn, Turn, Turn....

7 is the number of heaven, which is also the number of Libra, which just happens to be where the sun  slips into on Sept. 22, kicking off autumn with the equinox. Besides pulling out the sweaters and gloves, Libra is a transit that deals with beauty, balance and commitment. It’s about pacing yourself and setting the right ambiance for the long haul — as now is the season of transition.  To hone this smooth energy best, here are 7 practices to complete as much as possible until October 23:

1.     Pamper Yourself. As a sign ruled by Venus, Libra is the beauty aspect and to honor, it’ll mean logging in the time at the salon, spa and stores. Feeling your best will mean looking your best.
2.     Sign On The Dotted Line. Whatever loose ends you have, in terms of relationship in love or business, make it stick. Sign a contract or make an investment into who and what you believe in. This is when equality and fairness matter.
3.     Confess. Whatever lies you’ve told or things you’ve not shared justly, confess it. If you don’t need to come clean, then it’ll mean giving forgiveness to someone willing to acknowledge their wrongs.
4.     Host A Party. Libras are social creatures that live for good times. Host an event with a dress code, like a theme party, as group efforts are also what you’ll thrive on now.
5.     Support An Art. This could mean buying art or treating yourself to box seats at the opera. Whichever cultural affair piques your interest, dive in with your wallet first.
6.   Meditate Getting the world to shut up around you and find your center is what Libra is all about. As the sign of balance, it's all about sorting out all your pluses and minuses.
7.   Practice Diplomacy Compromise doesn't have to be a dirty word, as the laws of the cosmos are out for everyone to get a little bit of something in their favor. if you work at it hard enough, you'll see that diplomacy is something you are capable of and can make you better for it....Or until Sun hits Scorpio..

Mercury Enters Libra

1+1 = Done

Summer's official end is now, with school bells ringing and new deadlines looming. However, instead of diving deep into the doldrums, the universe is sweetly helping reduce this painful transition with Mercury in calming Libra at 1:38 am today until September 27th. This means no need for concerns, as this time is when worry is just another 5-letter word. To make the most of this transit, follow these 5 basic rules:

1.     Relax. Libra is an air sign that moves life organically along at a moderate pace. There's no sense in rushing to get you where you’re going, because speed won’t matter now. Easy breezy thinking is a prerequisite for success. So, inhale and exhale.
2.     Cultural Stimulation. Ruled by Venus, Libra is in charge of culture and beauty. Anything from spending more afternoons at museums, getting tickets to a play or dating a musician will tune you into the power of art as muse.
3.     Team Up.
By nature of this partnership sign, best to bounce thoughts off another or work with someone on projects, because 2 heads will be luckier than 1 now.
4.     Manners Matter.
Elegance is a hallmark of the Librian way of life and playing fair and being kind is law, as karma will be fast to smack you back down now if you don’t.
5.     Demand Diplomacy
Being nice doesn’t mean being a pushover. Be willing to defend yourself and what you believe when necessary. Fairness will win out.

Mars In Libra Goes Direct!

 Lead Feet No More!

Since Dec. 7, Mars has been in Libra -- which is much like slapping yourself, as there is a sense of constant contrast with your motivation and ideals. Then add the stopping of its sloppiness, when it then went retrograde on the 1st of March and it's been one cruel ass season. Finally, relief arrives today, as the forward ho of time brings back the motion and closer to July 25th, when Mars exits the 'side-effect' and right into Scorpio, where it belongs and where it will get real, really fast.

...So, until then, remember these are the places, per sign, where you will see Mars in Libra working with you:

Aries: Restructuring your sense of equality with those closest to you, commitments, legal issues.
Taurus: Declaring peace with co-workers, taking back control of your time, maximizing your efforts for love and money.
Gemini: Working your creativity, falling in love for the beauty of it all, being justly admired.
Cancer:
Planting new roots, redefining your sense of security, dealings with family.
Leo:
Challenging your brain, being community-minded, expressing yourself.
Virgo:
Enjoying what you've earned, indulging your five senses, being self-assured.
Libra:
Being a genius, starting a new journey, feeling motivated.
Scorpio:
Learning to better balance reality and fantasy, trusting in karma, aiming towards Nirvana.
Sagittarius: Appreciating your truest friendships, helping the future be a better place, making solid connections.
Capricorn:
Moving up the ladder of success, setting new standards, enjoying luxury.
Aquarius:
Flexing your morality for strength and change, diving into new adventures, discovering new hopes and inspirations.

Pisces: Owning your inner power, practicing unconditional love, getting paid what you are worth and more.

Mars Enters Libra

Time To Own Up

Mars is now in Libra until July 25, 2014! That is major news in the astro world because Mars, the planet of determination, ego, ambition and passionate-intensity-that-can-often-be-misunderstood-as-bitchery is usually done with each sign in 6 weeks. So, the fact that this masculine and sexual planet is going to lay back in Libra for over 7 months is heavy duty. As in there are going to be no more excuses to getting balance and peace into your life in a more meaningful way. After all, don't we all owe it to ourselves to feel life in the most absolutely pulchritudinous way capable? Of course, so here it goes with Mars in Libra, as in tick-tock...

As for places that will more dramatically feel this cosmic mandate, in terms of where to make changes or look for opportunities, it is as follows:
(Remember to read your Sun sign and Rising sign (Click there to get your rising sign for free. You will need to know your time of birth.)
Aries: Restructuring your sense of equality with those closest to you, commitments, legal issues.
Taurus: Declaring peace with co-workers, taking back control of your time, maximizing your efforts for love and money.
Gemini: Working your creativity, falling in love for the beauty of it, being justly worshipped.
Cancer: Planting new roots, redefining your sense of security, dealings with family.
Leo: Challenging your brain, being community-minded, expressing yourself.
Virgo: Enjoying what you've earned, indulging your five senses, being self-assured.
Libra: Being a genius, starting a new journey, feeling motivated.
Scorpio: Learning to better balance reality and fantasy, trusting in karma, aiming towards Nirvana.
Sagittarius: Appreciating your truest friendships, helping the future be a better place, making solid connections.
Capricorn: Moving up the ladder of success, setting new standards, enjoying luxury.
Aquarius: Flexing your morality for strength and change, diving into new adventures, discovering new hopes and inspirations.
Pisces: Owning your inner power, practicing unconditional love, getting paid what you are worth and more.

Sun Enters Libra, The Autumn Equinox

Wave The White Flag

Fall is here! The day that is marked with the Sun moving into Libra, which is a sign ruled by Venus and puts the focus on love, beauty, and peace. However, since this season is also about getting ready for hibernation, it means to get any balance, it'll mean waving the white flag and compromising in areas of your life that can bring the greater good for the long-term. As they say, justice is blind, so if it means only being able to get your glass half full, accept it's better than nothing.

As for areas most auspicious to settle the score (and per usual, read your Sun and Rising (based on time of birth):

Aries: Legal battles, relationship issues, overall partnership problems.
Taurus: Co-worker disputes, power struggles with subordinates, general health issues.
Gemini: Ego clashes, romance woes, creative differences.
Cancer: Family struggles, roommate problems, business start-up complications.
Leo: Disputes with siblings, communication issues in general, learning problems.
Virgo: Confidence difficulties, investment worries, concerns over personal values.
Libra: Problems initiating new ideas, image distortions, lacking of energy.
Scorpio: Dealings with your past, deep-rooted psychological traumas, suffering in general.
Sagittarius: Friendship problems, technological messes, humanitarian beliefs.
Capricorn: Status concerns, career injustices, red tape.
Aquarius: Challenges to your idealism, global affairs, spiritual struggles.
Pisces: Money concerns, sex/intimacy issues, secret dealings.

Mercury Enters Libra

Think Beautiful Thoughts.

Welcome Today! Mercury in Libra is all about mental balance and the ultimate peace of mind, in which ever way you want to define it. For me, it's the science of existence beyond just the physical....What's yours?

BiTe My StYle
I totally love my dress this week and I'd have to say this is more like what I look...in terms of hair and make-up and the dress is so my silhouette. I got it on eBay, of course. It was new though--but it's made well and it's 100% cotton. It's from the UK, but it's made in China. If you dig it, it'll come up in the search if you put in retro dresses or rockabilly....And to flatter it, my black shrug from Berlin. It's so light and soft. Even on super hot days, it's cooler than having bare shoulders.
My cute shoes I completed it with:

The same ones I had on for the first SBS...Wow, I feel like we've come a long way and we are really sorting it out now. Plus, I couldn't of asked for better people to be working with -- especially Jeffrey and JoZie. Taurus and Capricorn!
As for other pieces that are found throughout the week's scopes is my Aries "MacBeth" look with the retro capelet I got on eBay and more of Jeffrey's adventurous styling.
My "I can't believe it's such love" red satchel might also be in Aquarius--purchased at KaDeWe Berlin. Oh, protesting shirt is my Angry Little Asian Girl tee. Love it. Check her out. She rocks.

New Moon In Virgo

You Know What's Wrong With This World?

It's New Moon In Virgo, the start of new things to get persnickety about and have to fix. And in tune with the cosmos,  I just so happen to have already labeled the areas in your life that you'll want to turn into the H.B.I.C. for. Yes, this week's Style By Sign we celebrate being critical! Yup, harvest season begins. Time to see results for your efforts.

Plus, today is Rosh Hashanah, the new year on the Jewish calender, making it 5774 and a day to turn over a new leaf...and I also happen to use "Shalom" as my exit greeting--that was a coincidence!

Anyway, my fave Style By Sign this week is Libra, scary times....

BITE MY STYLE
This top caused a bit of controversy -- as in do I keep it or do I let it go? I liked it, but now seeing it on screen and how it looks, I am not digging it. It cuts off in an an unforgiving way that makes me look the opposite of lithe...I still like it though...Argh, if I dressed with my taste, not for my body, then things would be a bit different. So, until I decide on that top, I can't tell you where I got it.

Underneath I am wearing a Spanx tube as my wiggle skirt. I wore this on my second visit to the Mike and Juliet Show, which I bought the tube for--because I couldn't find a super tight black wiggle skirt...Improvisation, that's what syle can help you out with! ...and also an oldie is my beaded necklace, which I wore on my first TV appearance and was asked to take it off--which resulted in oh-so-funny-tv-banter.

...My black cocktail ring is from Amsterdam, my earrings and bangles, the usual...My grandmother designed costume jewelry in the 60s and this was one of her necklaces. The clasp, which you can't see, is great: a giant clear yellow gem. It's awesome. I'm glad this was the accessory that made it on, as I made a leather choker with a cameo the night before, but was nixed by Jeffrey, my Andre Leon Talley. (But unlike Andre, Jeffrey is gay. (lol))...Oh, he hated my top too. Half-way through shooting this week's, Jeffrey had to just say it, say he hated it. He thought it looked like I was wearing a quilted blanket. However, Jozie (Make-Up) and Ally (the AP) liked it...who knows if that was just girl solidarity. Whatever.  I like trying things out and if it is a catastrophe, well, thank god I was born with such little shame.

Venus Enters Libra

Everything Is Coming Up Rosy

Venus entered Libra today, putting the planet of love, beauty and pleasure into its natural position. Time for swooning and spooning! So love it as your creative muse and and express it!

My latest:
EAT IT, BITCHES
A five-day odyssey with one of my favorite boy/girl. Shlomi and Mazy Mazeltov and me hit Amsterdam and it just happen to be pride week. Weeeheee, the perfect adventure! (Minus the AirBnB experience, which included walking in and seeing a stray cat chilling on the bed, a toilet plunger in the shower and being asked to take out her garbage -- a person I paid way more money to than the place was worth....and that was just a few of the things that grossed me out.)

Full Moon In Libra, In My 12th House

Legacies

I know I am ridiculously late on posting (4/13 today), but unfortunately there was a death in the family...While others were in total fear of this "monster moon" early on, after reading about it on AstrologyZone.com, I feared not, but oh how I was wrong...

On March 13, my grandmother passed away, after turning it out for over 90 years (she always kept her age vague). A Scorpio like me, with a birthday just three days ahead of mine, she was a lady in every sense of the word and an amazing role model that I feel lucky to share the same DNA as. A total trailblazer, like being an economics major in college in China in the 1930's or being by my grandfather's side as he led the first Asian protest to City Hall in NYC, she made everything seem effortless. Her legacy to me made me feel all was possible and that it could be fun and it should be glamorous too. To honor her, I accepted the chance to eulogize her at her funeral:

Teresa Tom (November 13 19??-March 13 2013)
I’m lucky that I got a hip and hot grandmother. While other kids got cookies, mine wanted to gamble and drink with me… mine encouraged my fascination with high-heels and makeup at the age of four, reminding me always to, “Walk, talk, act like a lady.”

…Then there was the time I was a teenager, and she caught me with a boy, but never busted me to my parents. She asked me if he was nice. I said, “Yes,” and she never mentioned it again.

I knew she trusted I wasn’t senseless. She accepted me to be who I am, and never talked down to me or told me what to do… But, of course, she did like sharing her opinions. In our gossiping one day, she told me that for a relationship to work, the man has to be the smarter one, because a woman would get bored of a dumb guy, but a man would never get bored of being the smarter one…Then, another time, when she came over to my overpriced apartment in a rat-infested Mott St. building and said, “Well, once you close the door it’s all worth it.”

She always kept an open-mind and wanted to see the best in this world, never losing her chutzpah or composure. Always elegant, even in the face of life’s worst challenges, I aspire to her level of grace, generosity and courage. Having taught me by example, I loved that she showed me the world with a sense of adventure: to explore it, be a part of it, own it, make friends in it, fall in love in it, have purpose in it, enjoy it and most importantly, look good in it.

I believe our spirits will meet again and our love is eternal. A gazillion thank you’s would never be enough, MaMa forever!

Venus enters Libra

Get Creative

Venus comes home today, as it slides into Libra, the sign of beauty, balance and culture. It's a time for peace, partnership and expressing yourself visually. For me, it was about creative ways to stay occupied while pre-Sandy loomed outside. Of my top accomplishments:

Hurricane Gardening

K-Drama Hairstyles
Home Decor: Champagnabra

...and because I am behind on updates and amid post hurricane surrealness, here is the link back to last year's Venus in Libra post, which gives the gist per sign on what to do. The only difference this year, this transit will go until November 21: Venus enters Libra.

Sun enters Libra, The Autumn Equinox!

It's always beautiful.

Libra is a sign renown for its graciousness, which means sometimes Libras will lie to your face just to keep all cool. Sure, they may consider the consequences, perhaps momentarily, but will negate a negative end to anything they wish to see in other ways, as it's the moment that matters and for that, you just got to love them. Of course, you may wonder to yourself where they get this ability to sound hopeful despite rancid circumstances -- and its because Libra will always look for that something beautiful in all that they see and concentrate on just that. Yes, a Venusian birthright. Not to say that ugliness, rudeness and injustice isn't part of their vernacular, but it's not what they will hone in on. So, take this lesson to heart and embrace the fake it until you make it theory, as there is always something beautiful to focus on, if you look hard enough.

So, as per sign where to be the bigger person:

Mars enters Libra

Here comes the future, open wide.

It's been 9 long months of Mars in Virgo, putting out work-a-holic, play by the rules, anally-charged energy in the air. Now, it's time for a new bitch in town and reaping rewards in a more elegant way! Yes, Mars, the passion planet, has finally slipped into a new sign -- poised and sophisticated Libra!

With this transit, lasting until August 23rd, it's about working yourself around feeling the beauty, harmony and general luxurious languidness of your life and tweaking it to fit into a perfect shape to balance yourself out for maximum cool. That's right, it's all about the natural flow of your mind, heart and body now, and understanding any sense of inauthenticity is a cue that you're not headed in the right direction. Nothing will be won now with dishonest charm, so get yourself together and play nice, as its really that time when how you do onto the world will be how it does onto you.

As for where this main ebb and equal flow will hit each sign, it's as follows:

Aries- Your closest relationships
Taurus- Your health
Gemini- Your love life
Cancer- Your family
Leo- Your thought process
Virgo- Your comfort zone
Libra- Your integrity
Scorpio- Your subconscious
Sagittarius- Your hopes and dreams
Capricorn- Your ambitions
Aquarius- Your morals
Pisces- Your inner resolve

Saturn goes direct in Libra

What's done is done...

Life isn't fair, that is the foundation of reality and if you don't like it, you can just suck it.  It's the lesson of Saturn and despite its harshness, its purpose is to push us to strive for those mythical nuggets of beauty, love, and harmony amid the catastrophe that is our existence and in Libra, the exalted position of Saturn, it's at its shining best -- as dreams, delusions and harmony all blend into a creamy pulp that is as delicious as it is deadly, as its ability to choke and maim are great, especially the farther and more intense you go about having purpose and learning its power is impossibly transitory. So, as this planet of discipline goes back into full form, take what you have learned in the last few months to tell you something deeper about all that can't be held.

As for the elusive lessons assigned per sign:
Aries:
Compromise
Taurus: Efficiency
Gemini: Love
Cancer: Family
Leo: Learning
Virgo: Generosity
Libra: Identity
Scorpio: Compassion
Sagittarius: Community
Capricorn: Status
Aquarius: Spirituality
Pisces: Passion

Full Moon in Libra, my natal 5th house

"I believe the children are our future..."

Having spent my last week and a half with my favorite person in the universe, J.T. Superstar, my cutie pie 4-yr.old nephew, I can't think straight because all my thoughts circle back to him and all the fun times we just had...So, since this full moon happens to fall in my 5th house, the ruler of children, you are just going to have to get inundated with cute images of the best person in my world, as it's an obsessive love that keeps giving and giving!

*7 cute facts about J.T. Superstar:
  • He thinks his Aunt Kiki is the prettiest girl in the world--even though he does have a crush on Beyonce, and says we're both pretty. The pic of him in the lazy boy in his mismatched PJs looking starry-eyed is when he happen to see B performing at Glastonbury on TV....and lil cutie is a one woman boy, as I asked him if he liked her backup dancers too, and he said, "No, just her." Thank god he has good taste!!!!
  • He never matches his PJs anymore after I introduced him to the world of mix and match.
  • He's a lil man with many personas: robot, inventor, zombie, detective, international playboy, etc.
  • Oh, and BTW, Lil J. is my brother Garrett's son--so he's the dude in the pics with us.
  • He's up for a dance party anywhere, especially on top of your bed.
  • He's as sweet as he is smart and handsome; note the little flower by the frog we found in the park. He picked it for him or her. CUTE!
  • He has his own Youtube channel that has snippets throughout his whole cute life! Guess who started it....
